Health & Safety Notice
Real notice. Written in NRN house style, but this is a genuine health & safety notice for the game Northgate Dispatch. Please read it before a long session at the terminal.
Photosensitive seizure warning

A very small number of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain flashing lights or patterns, including in video games. If you or anyone in your family has an epileptic condition or has had seizures of any kind, consult your doctor before playing.

Stop immediately and consult a doctor if, while playing, you experience dizziness, altered vision, eye or muscle twitches, disorientation, any involuntary movement, or convulsions.

About this terminal's look

Northgate Dispatch is styled after a 1980s–1990s CRT. It uses scanlines, a soft phosphor glow, and the occasional signal flash. These effects are deliberate and mostly gentle, but they are still moving light. This website uses the same style, at a lower intensity.

  • Play in a well-lit room, not in the dark.
  • Sit back from the screen, at least an arm's length away.
  • Take a 10–15 minute break every hour.
  • Stop if your eyes tire, or if you feel tired, dizzy, or unwell.

Comfort options

The game and this site respect your system's "reduce motion" setting: turn it on and the flicker, marquee scroll, and blinking effects are minimized. In the game, you can also switch the terminal to a calmer colour scheme (amber or lapis) and adjust display and audio in Settings.

General wellbeing

  • Do not play if you are tired or need sleep.
  • Keep hydrated, and rest your hands and eyes regularly.
  • A night shift in the game is a difficulty setting, not a reason to skip your own sleep.

If symptoms persist beyond stopping the game, seek medical advice. This notice does not replace professional medical guidance.
