The Northgate Rail Network

Ten stations, one main line and three branches, running from the quiet country halt at Briar to the city terminus at Vernon Heights. Whether you are heading for the docks, changing across the region, or just riding two stops home, this is where the Network can take you.

Line map: the Northgate Main

Westbound, from the country end to the city. Not to scale.

  1. Briar Halt. Our smallest stop — a single platform for the villages at the country end of the line.
  2. Northgate Yard. The original station and the first junction. Change here for the freight branch.
  3. Elmwood Loop. The commuter loop. Frequent trains for the eastern suburbs.
  4. Maple Junction. Where the line divides. Trains for Harbor Terminal, Larkon Cross and Pendle Cross split here.
  5. Harbor Terminal. For the docks, the harbour and the coastal ferries.
  6. Larkon Cross. A busy interchange between the western branch lines.
  7. Pendle Cross. Six platforms. Change here for connecting services across the west.
  8. Meridian Yard. The main city station. Fast trains call here on the way through.
  9. Dunmore Junction. The heart of the Network — change here for every line in the region.
  10. Vernon Heights. The end of the line, high above the city. Bring a coat in winter.

The main line and the branches
  • The Northgate Main runs the length of the region, country end to city, calling at every station on this map.
  • The Harbor branch leaves the Main at Maple Junction for the docks and the coast.
  • The Larkon and Pendle branches serve the western towns and rejoin the Main at Meridian.
  • Fast trains run non-stop between the city stations at peak times; local trains call everywhere.
Before you travel
  • Tickets are sold at the kiosk at every staffed station. Buy before you board.
  • Children under five travel free. A staff travel pass covers one named dependant.
  • The timetable is the same every day — but check the departure boards, because the weather is not.

Every station on this map is also a signal box, worked by one of our dispatchers. If you came here to learn the boards rather than to catch a train, the operating side is covered in the Dispatcher Manual and the operating roster.

Every station here is a level in the game. You cannot really catch a train to Dunmore Junction, but there is a dispatch board by that name, and it will do real damage to your on-time percentage. You can work all ten in the simulator.
